One place for all posts from Book 2 in the Outlander Book Club
Aug. 9 is the anniversary of the Outlander series premiere. There are certainly posts to commemorate that, but first, I want to make the Outlander Book Club easier.
This post is the place for all the Dragonfly in Amber book posts together. It’s designed to make it easier for you to find where you are in the breakdowns if you get behind or join in later. Honestly, I’m not sure why I didn’t think of this sooner!
What is Dragonfly in Amber about?
The second book in the franchise continues Claire and Jamie’s story. In France in 1744, we follow the couple attempting to prevent Culloden from ever happening. They get to meet Bonnie Prince Charlie, King Louis, and many other important people, who Claire has read about in history books.
At the same time, we spend a little time in 1968. Brianna and Roger are all grown up.
In fact, we open the book in 1968. You’ll be forgiven for feeling a little confused, knowing that the first book ended with Claire and Jamie still in 1744. How did Claire end up in Scotland 220 years later? That’s something to find out throughout the book.
It’s the first book that diverges from Claire’s POV. We get chapters that are told from Roger’s POV, which offers a different voice and allows us to learn a little more about him as he quickly falls in love with Brianna.
