Roger and Claire go in search for Geillis Duncan in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 48

It’s time for what seems like a wild goose chase in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 48. One thing it does is wrap up the storylines from the last two books.

Dragonfly in Amber Chapter 48 is the penultimate chapter of the book. It continues the story in 1968, seeing Claire and Roger in search for Geillis Duncan, who we now know is called Gillian Edgars. We get an idea about her obsession, but will the two be able to stop her from traveling through the stones and meeting her eventual death?

This is an important chapter. It wraps up stories from the first book. It catches us up in the timeline to this point, giving us a little hope that the past can be changed but also giving us a look at the rules of time travel.

It’s not surprising that the show adapted the chapter. Some things were done slightly differently, and I’ll get to that in the show breakdown section.

As for the length, this is an average length chapter coming it at around 40 minutes. The final chapter is one of the shortest in the book.

Let’s get into the breakdown of the Dragonfly in Amber chapter.
