Claire accidentally makes an enemy during Outlander Book 2, Chapter 6

Outlander Book 2, Chapter 6 is the first chapter that sees Claire and Jamie in France. Technically, they’ve been in France while in the abbey, but this is the first time we see them living in France and meeting with people outside.

It’s an important chapter, reminding us of a few events from the first book and giving us an event that will create some sort of drama for Claire and Jamie moving forward. At the same time, we get to meet Jared Fraser, learning that he is a Jacobite.

While some of this chapter was developed for the show, there were some different settings and circumstances. Part of this would have been linked to the change in the abbey storyline, so I’ll get to that during the TV show section of this breakdown.

When it comes to length, this is the longest chapter of Part 2 from Dragonfly in Amber, coming in at a little more than an hour. It’s one of the longest chapters of the whole book, but it’s an important chapter, packed with information and foreshadowing.

It’s time to breakdown the chapter, looking at the specific events, any foreshadowing within the chapter, and how it connects to the TV series. Are you ready?
