It’s all about music in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 15

We’re at the end of another week in the Outlander Book Club. Today, it’s all about Outlander Book 2, Chapter 15, which focuses on music.

Jamie has realized there’s something odd about the sheet of music that he has from the stolen letters. It must have a key to breaking the cipher that he’s found. However, he needs someone with knowledge of music to do that.

It opens up a chance to get to know Mother Hildegarde better. However, I will say that something has always struck me odd about this chapter. I’ll get into that when I do the chapter breakdown.

As for foreshadowing, I don’t notice all that much. It’s mostly about the leftover S, which will clearly be an important part of the next few chapters; the fight to prevent Culloden happening.

The chapter was certainly used in the show, but it was adapted heavily. Personally, I think I prefer the way the show did it, especially with Jamie’s reluctance to turn to Mother Hildegarde for help. This was a delicate matter!

This is a slightly longer chapter in Dragonfly in Amber compared to the previous two chapters. However, it’s not too long, coming in at around 45 minutes on Audible.
