Jamie figures out a way to cause problems for Comte and Charles’s in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 23

Claire and Jamie have a problem to deal with in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 23. It’s all about handling the Comte and Prince Charles.

In the previous chapters, Jamie and Claire had learned Charles had entered a business venture with Comte St. Germain. Initially, it wasn’t a concern, but it was soon clear that this could lead to Charles getting the money needed to raise an army. And Charles is more than excited to be able to get to Scotland and start the fight for his father’s throne.

Jamie needs to figure out a way to deal with this situation, but it seems impossible. That is until Murtagh has a little news about an illness coming from Portugal.

Meanwhile, the Frasers get a visit from Monsieur Forez, who seems to be hinting at something terrible for Jamie. Is he possibly being viewed as a traitor? And if so, who by?

This chapter didn’t seem to have that much foreshadowing that I noticed. There was a little, mostly towards Claire’s storyline. I think the red herring is in the suspicion in Jamie.

It’s a relatively short chapter, but an important one. So, let’s get into the breakdown for Dragonfly in Amber Chapter 23.
