Outlander Book 2, Chapter 49 seals Geillis’s fate

We find ourselves at the end of Dragonfly in AmberOutlander Book 2, Chapter 49 seals Geillis’s fate, but it also gives us a secret that Roger has learned about the past.

We knew this chapter was coming. It’s hard not to know it when you hold the book in your hands and feel the pages on the right slipping through your fingers. These final three chapters were all about bringing things full circle, almost getting us back to the first book.

It’s an attempt to stop Geillis/Gillian from going to the past. This isn’t to stop her from raising money for the Jacobite cause, but to stop her from going to her own death. Did we really think that would be possible, especially when Roger is standing in front of Claire?

This chapter is on the shorter side at around 26 minutes on Audible, but it doesn’t make it unimportant. In fact, it’s one of the most important chapters of the story. It gives us a reason for the third book in the series. Without one thing from Roger, there would have been no reason for Claire to go back in time or even to really learn what Claire had done in the last 20 years.

It’s also a chapter that has to be used for the TV series. After all, it’s the chapter that pushes Claire into researching Jamie and realizing that she has to go back.

I’m sure there are questions about Voyger. We’re not starting that tomorrow. I’ll share an update tomorrow on my plans, as I need some time for the next book due to have a backlog of other books for work and there will be some people who need time to catch up.

Let’s get into the breakdown of the final chapter from Dragonfly in Amber.
