Claire helps Louise with a delicate matter in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 13

When something is mentioned in passing, you just know that it’s going to come up again. That’s the case in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 13.

During the meeting with Master Raymond, he mentioned a potion that would help to cause an abortion. Taken too late would be harmful, and there was no guarantee that the pregnancy would be aborted even if taken in time. Of course, it comes up in Dragonfly in Amber Chapter 13.

Claire is with Louise, who has a delicate matter to deal with. It’s the 18th century, so it always falls on the woman to handle the situation, whether they choose to have the baby or not.

That’s not all that takes place during the chapter. Jamie and Fergus have managed to steal some letters from King James. Now they need to work out the code, and there is certainly some foreshadowing for the next book within this chapter.

It’s a relatively short chapter, coming in at 20 minutes on Audible. It’s the shortest chapter of Part Two of the book, but the next four chapters aren’t all that long, either.

Despite its shortness, it is an important one. After all, it sets up a chance to stop Culloden from happening. Will everything work out for the Frasers?
