There are many who fear Sam Heughan will walk away from Outlander after six seasons for other projects. It doesn’t sound like that will be the case.
The Outlander stars are gaining popularity and landing bigger roles. That’s certainly the case for Sam Heughan, who has done movies like The Spy Who Dumped Me and has Bloodshot with Vin Diesel coming up. There are fears that the stars will move on from Outlander before finishing out the series.
That certainly doesn’t sound like the case from a recent interview Heughan did with Parade. There was talk of how Jamie Fraser is aging, and Heughan stated that there would hopefully be more seasons.

We know that the series has already been renewed for the sixth season. We could assume that from the wording, Sam Heughan wants to see this show to the very end. There are going to be 10 books in total, according to Diana Gabaldon’s current plans, and four seasons on top of the current six would mean 10 seasons in total.
This isn’t the first time the stars, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, have shared they’re in it for the long-term. They want to deliver the best story possible and know that their current opportunities have come from their time on the STARZ series. This is the show that pushed them into the limelight as the leading man and woman.
It’s good news for fans. Just recently, Outlander EP, Toni Graphia, also said that she has plans to go the full way with the series. Now we just have to hope that STARZ will keep renewing it to the end.
