There were many moments in Drums of Autumn missed in Outlander Season 4 due to the way the story ended. There’s one that needs to be in Season 5.
Due to the decision to end Outlander Season 4 will a cliffhanger, there wasn’t the ability to include everything from the end of “Drums of Autumn.” While there are some great moments, there is one Roger moment that must be included in Outlander Season 5.
Of course, if you haven’t read “Drums of Autumn,” there are going to be spoilers in this post. If you have read the novel, I have a feeling you’re going to agree with me because of what this moment means.

That one moment is when Roger makes an oath to someone very special. And no, it’s not to Brianna.
He makes a blood oath to Jemmy, making it extremely clear that he views Jemmy as his own son. This is done in front of Bree, Claire, and Jamie, which makes it all the more special. He’s not just doing something in front of Bree or behind some closed doors so nobody else knows. This is Roger’s way to make a point to Jamie; that he’s not going to leave Bree and Roger.
We know that Roger views Jemmy as his own. The GIF that was used for Roger’s individual promotion was about making a claim. It sounds like this could be that moment from the books, making the blood oath to claim Jemmy as his son.
Not only is the blood oath an excellent way to prove to everyone that Roger is serious about sticking around, but it could also help if Stephen Bonnet shows up looking for Jemmy. After all, we know that Bonnet survived the explosion at the jail and he believes that the boy is his. While not viewed by everyone, a blood oath can help to secure some sort of paternity with the superstitious Scots.
