Sam Heughan appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Dec. 16. It was a chance to talk about a stronger Outlander and upcoming projects.

Outlander fans were glued to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Dec. 16. Sam Heughan was one of the guests, where he got to chat about some upcoming projects, as well as how much stronger the fifth season of the time-traveling drama series is going to be compared to the fourth season.

It was just a six-minute interview, but there was plenty to say. Of course, it all started with talks of James Bond. Heughan is interested in the idea but says he hasn’t received a call yet about taking over from Daniel Craig. There’s still time, and it would be amazing to have the first Scottish James Bond since Sean Connery.

More from Sam Heughan

However, the discussions moved onto other projects. While Bloodshot came up, Heughan mentioned another movie that he has coming up soon. He recently finished filming an adaptation of an Andy McNab book but was unable to share any more. We don’t even get to know the title.

After that, he discussed Outlander. Naturally, that had to come up with the fifth season premiering in February 2020. Heughan shares that he believes the fifth season is going to be stronger than the fourth, which is something fans have hoped for. Heughan and his co-star, Caitriona Balfe, are now producers on the show, which means they get a little more say. There’s hope that important moments from the books aren’t cut from the show again.

However, he did have a warning for fans. The Outlander Season 5 finale is not going to be easy to watch. What could possibly happen? I’ll leave you to your speculation. After all, we don’t even know if the ending is going to be the same as “The Fiery Cross!”
