There are many period dramas out there. One for Outlander fans is most definitely A Place to Call Home.

Many Outlander fans are drawn into the show initially because it’s a period drama. There is a romance element to it and it could certainly be considered sci-fi, but it’s a period drama. And you’re possibly looking for another period drama to fill in the gap during Droughtlander. A Place to Call Home is one of those shows.

5. It’s got the various love stories

The series doesn’t shy away from love stories and the sexual activities between the characters. This isn’t as raunchy as Outlander but, then, not all shows need to be like that.

A Place to Call Home focuses on class differences. From the very beginning, there are two relationships that see characters from different class systems in 1953 Australia. The upper class being with the lower class just wasn’t the done thing at the time.

There are plenty of scandals and look out for a lot of heartbreak and trouble. This is where the Downton Abbey element comes into play rather well.
