The Australian drama is all about the social changes of the 1950s. Set in New South Wales after the events of World War II, Sarah Adams returns to her home country after 20 years abroad. Sarah served as a nurse on a ship taking her back to Australia, where she met the Bligh family.

Berry plays the role of James Bligh, son of George and Elaine and husband of Olivia. However, it turns out that he’s gay and struggling to come to terms with that. He tries to kill himself due to his feelings and sexual orientation–remember the time period when it would have been illegal, let alone frowned upon!

This is a family drama that is sure to capture hearts. If you enjoy Outlander, this is definitely one to try next to get you through Droughtlander. Plus, it features Berry heavily in the first four seasons and he does return for the fifth. According to IMDb, he will also return for the sixth and final season this year.
