Before we start the throwbacks to Outlander Season 1’s past again, it’s time to look at some of the best moments and lines from other episodes. Outlander Season 1, Episode 7 is first and here are the five best lines.

I’ll soon start the throwbacks to Outlander Season 1’s past again. Before that, there’s a bit of catchup needed for a few episodes. One of those is a look at the best lines of the most iconic and favorite episodes of all: “The Wedding.”

There’s no denying Outlander Season 1, Episode 7 was full of some perfect moments. I don’t think it was perfect overall — but then, I’ve never found any TV show episode or movie completely perfect because we all have different opinions and thoughts on what works/doesn’t work. But, this was darn near it.

More from Opinion

Here’s a look at my five favorite lines from the episode.

Darling, the only family I care about is you. And the family that we will make together.

Frank’s line certainly stands out. I felt a little off about how Frank and Claire rushed into their wedding. It wasn’t big or fancy. At one point, Claire asks whether Frank would want a big wedding and I’m not sure if, secretly, she wanted something more momentous to mark this moment in her life, even if she didn’t have family to invite.

However, Frank’s line is important and ironic. He spends all this time looking back at his family line because of his love for history, but he has no regard for his parents. He doesn’t view them as important enough and he’s looking ahead at the future. It’s a contradictory moment, and I’ve always been intrigued by this.

If Claire does become my wife, I’ll thank you to stop talking and thinking of her like some common whore.

Jamie is a man of honor, and we get that in this line right here. Claire isn’t even married to him yet and he stands up for her. More importantly, he says if. And that if isn’t linked to his thoughts or opinions.

I get the feeling that Jamie agreed to it all in his head right away. He was willing to marry Claire because he was already in love with her. The if was more about Claire and whether she would agree to marry him. He wasn’t about to force himself on her.

You have my name, my clan, my family. And, if necessary, the protection of my body as well.

This line continues the look at how honorable Jamie is. He offers Claire everything — all the protection she needs. And in this line, he also makes it clear that he would die for her.

Over time, we’ve watched as both have put their lives on the line for each other. We’ve seen them risk everything to save one another from the perils life has thrown at them. The Fraser name has also protected them more than once. This was a good foreshadowing of all that.

I didna realize you did it face-to-face. I thought you must do it the back way, you know, like like horses, ye ken.

This was just one of those lines that I laughed out loud at. It was a sign of Jamie’s innocence. He’d mentioned he was a virgin, but did we really believe it right away? I wouldn’t have thought him to lie but there was still part of me that questioned it.

However, this made it clear that Jamie had only ever seen animals have sex. He hadn’t even walked in on his parents or caught them in the act without them knowing. While he can kiss, he still had a lot to learn and the rest of this episode saw him learning all that.

They’re Scotch pearls. They belonged to my mother. And now they belong to my wife. They’re one of the few things I have left of her. And very precious to me. As are you, Claire.

Finally, we end with Jamie giving Claire his mother’s pearls. This was an important moment in Outlander Season 1, Episode 7. It also brought one of my favorite lines as it makes it clear that Jamie is totally in love with her. This is more than just a duty to protect a woman to him.

The pearls come up later in the series. They’re given to Mrs. Graham for protection from Frank and then to Brianna because, like all family heirlooms, they are passed down. We get to see them as a constant within the Fraser line.
