We are here! It’s the anniversary of the first time The Wedding aired. This is a major moment and superbly created episode in Outlander history.

All the Outlander history moments were leading to this: the first time Claire and Jamie got married. Outlander Season 1, Episode 7 remains a fan-favorite to this day. “The Wedding” is just one of those episodes that stands out for all the right reasons and stands the test of time.

What’s so beautiful about it? Can I just say everything?

Let’s just start with the writing. Written by Anne Kenney, the episode pulled some of the best parts of the novel. Sure, there were parts changed due to time needed for filming, but the episode still captured everything that book fans felt while reading the chapters.

There are certainly some errors here and there (the “Scotch pearls” always gets me) but they’re easy to overlook for the sake of the episode. Outlander Season 1, Episode 7 finally brings Claire and Jamie together in the bedroom and it’s time to make use of that chemistry between the two characters.

My favorite part is when Claire starts teaching Jamie how to please a woman. He’s eager to learn, proving that he’s the best man for her. The others wouldn’t have given her time to accept that sex had to happen. They wouldn’t have given her time to get to know them on a deeper level. Jamie did, showing him to be honorable and kind, setting up for an even better time in the bed.

I also enjoy seeing Claire’s marriage to Frank during “The Wedding.” It wasn’t romantic and he wasn’t doing anything for Claire. This was his selfish need to shock his parents, foreshadowing the things to come. Of course, at a younger age and believing she was deeply in love with Frank, she was going to go along with it, also showing the differences in their “partnership” compared to that true partnership with Jamie.
