There’s plenty of content out there to help you get through Droughtlander. It’s worth giving something different a try and that ‘something different’ could be The Umbrella Academy on Netflix.

In February, Netflix released The Umbrella Academy. As an Outlander fan, you may have overlooked the show as it’s nothing like Claire and Jamie’s love story. However, it could be just the show you need to get through Droughtlander.

Don’t avoid the series just because it’s something different. It could be the “something different” that keeps you entertained and gives you something else to watch over and over again. After just watching it once, I immediately needed to watch it again and I’m the first to admit that rewatching shows isn’t something I do a lot because there’s just so much content out there.

Why could The Umbrella Academy help you get through Droughtlander? Here’s why it’s worth considering.

1. It involves time travel

Without giving too many spoilers away, one of the siblings travels through time. This is something you learn in the very first episode, and it very quickly sets up part of the storyline for the eight episodes of the first season.

One of the reasons you started watching Outlander was for the time travel element. Well, this offers time travel with a twist.

2. There’s a character for all

More from Opinion

Outlander certainly has fans divided at times. While most adore Jamie, some love Claire more. Then there are others who love Brianna and Roger. And we can’t forget Frank, Fergus, Marsali, Jenny, and many others.

The Umbrella Academy has a character for all. Four is my favorite with One and Three close behind. There are certainly going to be others who connect to Two, Five, Six, or Seven. And then there are the time agents.

3. There’s an intricate storyline

This is a well-written series. While there are moments and storylines you’ll be able to guess, but that’s the case with any show, movie, book, or piece of fiction. What’s impressive with the writing for The Umbrella Academy is the intricacy to the storyline. The characters’ storylines connect and interweave.

Sure, they’re siblings, so they should. However, the intertwine in ways that you wouldn’t initially see coming. Plus, there are some interesting, heartbreaking storylines involving the time travel.

4. The costumes are impressive

Each character doesn’t just have his or her own personality but also dress sense. The costuming and makeup are impressive. Okay, they’re not period pieces but that doesn’t stop costuming from being something you stop and go “wow” at. Again, Four is my favorite when it comes to costumes and details.

The set of the house is also amazing. Each room has its own style, there are awesome tidbits in the background, and you’ll get a vibe for the upbringing. Then there are the other sets that will impress you.

5. The music is on point

One of the elements of Outlander that draws you in is the music, right? While Bear McCreary isn’t involved in The Umbrella Academy, the music is still a strong point of the series. It’s modern day music, but each song represents the setting, the character, or the storyline at the time.

You can dance like nobody is watching throughout the series. It’s become a soundtrack that is routinely on in this house with the kids dancing away, even though they’ve not seen the show yet.
