The Emmy nominations have come and gone. Now it’s time for Outlander fans to look ahead at the next award nominations. It’s all about the People’s Choice Awards.
Outlander scooped up one nomination at the Emmy Awards announcement last week. It was certainly disappointing that it wasn’t more than that, but we should be proud that Terry Dresbach and her wonderful team were nominated for a second time. Now it’s time for fans to look ahead at the next awards show. It’s all about the People’s Choice Awards nominations.
The People’s Choice Awards will air at a different time of year this year. Rather than January, the show will air in November, outside the usual awards show hype. That’s not surprising, considering the awards show is also moving from CBS to E!
Moving to E! could be excellent for the show. When Outlander won in 2017, it wasn’t even given broadcast time. It’s usually the network shows picking up awards, so maybe a cable show was considered “small pickings.” With a smaller network taking over, it’s going to want to play fair to all involved and that means more potential screentime for Claire and Jamie’s love story.

There’s also an important point to make about this award show. The People’s Choice Awards are just what they sound like: “people’s choice.” Sassenachs will get the chance to vote for the show and actors to win. We’ve seen how vocal we are when it comes to smaller, online awards. Now it’s time to look forward and prove that Claire and Jamie deserve more attention–that could help the show get more attention elsewhere.
There’s an interesting date for The People’s Choice Awards this year, too. It’s going to be on Sunday, November 11. This could mean the awards show and Outlander Season 4 air at the same time. This is an unlikely date for the premiere, but it could be the date the second episode airs. Or maybe Starz will be hoping there’s hype and air the premiere the week after.
However, before that is the UK’s TV Choice Awards. Outlander was nominated for one award. Will it win?
