A new poster for The Spy Who Dumped Me had a glaring error for Outlander fans. Fortunately, Sam Heughan saw the funny side of it.
Outlander fans took to social media to complain about the most recent promo poster for Sam Heughan’s new movie The Spy Who Dumped Me. There was a glaring error for our favorite leading man, spelling his name Hueghon instead.
Of course, an error like that wasn’t going to stand with the fans. They quickly took to Twitter to request a change. With the change came more fun–and thanks from fans who had requested it! Heughan (note the spelling) quickly retweeted the new poster with a mention of how it’s a pseudonym. After all, a spy needs one of them and there is no way someone would have guessed Sam Hueghon was Sam Heughon, right?

Our leading man certainly has a sense of humor. Plus, he knows this wasn’t done maliciously. Editors are human too and we all make mistakes. Some are just bigger and stranger than others, like spelling the name of one of your main men in a movie!
It’s not surprising to see that he does have a sense of humor. That’s something that comes out a lot in his interactions on Twitter, so he was bound to make use of this mistake to his (and the movie’s) advantage.
The writer of the movie, David Iserson, retweeted the new poster mentioning that the crisis had been averted. He also pointed out that the misspelled poster would soon become a collector’s item. Why would it not surprise me if that was the case? It will be special to someone out there, although I’m not too sure it will make the $17,000 Iserson jokes. At least that is a modest amount to joke about!
One thing is for certain, The Spy Who Dumped Me has more promo a month before the release of the movie. That can only be a good thing, right?
