Why Sam Heughan deserves an Emmy nod this year!
Outlander has been put forward for consideration for Emmy nominations. Sam Heughan certainly deserves a nod this year.
It’s that time of year again; the time for the Emmy nominations. They’ll be announced next month and as Outlander fans, we always want to see our show or someone from our show mentioned. This year, Sam Heughan deserves a nomination.
The Emmy Awards tend to overlook the actors who can be considered eye-candy. Look at how long it’s taken Kit Harington to get an Emmy nod! Considering Sam Heughan is routinely commended for his looks (rather than his acting that outshines many on screen with him) it’s not surprising that he’s been overlooked throughout the years. Outlander Season 3 has to be the year that changes.

In the third season, our hearts broke. Outlander Season 3, Episode 4, titled “Of Lost Things,” meant Jamie facing Helwater and everything that would come with it. This was after some beautiful and harrowing performances in the previous three episodes. It was in Episode 4 that he gained a son and had to lose him again. Within an episode, we saw him love another child; welcome Willie into his heart. However, the situation meant that nobody could know Willie was his son and he had to leave Willie in the capable hands of Lord John Grey.
No words were needed as Jamie left Helwater. We watched all the emotion shine through his eyes; the love, the loss, the pain, the anger, and the frustration at the world. Only those with hearts of stone didn’t shed a tear at this episode.
It’s been said all year, while “Faith” was Caitriona Balfe’s emotional episode, “Of Lost Things” has been Sam Heughans and this will hopefully land him a deserved Emmy nod.
