Diana Gabaldon shared another Outlander Book 9 Daily Lines. Jamie took the chance to teach young Frances a little bit of Gaelic for breakfast.

How do you say “thank you” in Gaelic? Well, that’s something young Frances learns in the latest of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander Book 9 Daily Lines. It’s just a short snippet from “Go Tell the Bees that I Am Gone,” but a shot of the family life that is growing on Fraser’s Ridge.

And Jamie doesn’t even bat an eyelid at teaching the young girl the language. It’s all casual conversation, as Frances realizes that there are two ways of saying “thank you.” Well, more like it’s the formal “thank you” and the less formal “thanks” or “cheers” that we would say. The one you use would depend on the person that you’re talking to.

More importantly, this is a look at this growing family. Frances is just the latest one brought into the brood after being orphaned and losing her sister. Jamie and Claire weren’t going to leave her on the street, showing just how big their hearts really are.

There’s also a bit of a joke within the snippet, it seems. As there’s a mention of breakfast being ready, Jamie thinks about the lack of savory scent coming from the house. Brianna is the one that’s supposed to be cooking, so just what exactly has she been making?

Check out the full snippet and learn how to say “thank you” in Gaelic in the Outlander Book 9 Daily Lines below.
