Starz and Sony are still in talks about Outlander Season 5, but it looks like even Amazon Prime expects the season to go ahead.

Outlander Season 5 still isn’t officially confirmed. We know that Sony and Starz are already in talks for renewing the series ahead of the Season 4 premiere and that Ron D. Moore is certain that the fifth season is going to happen. However, we’re still waiting for Starz to confirm it to make us feel better. Yet, while we wait, Amazon Prime looks to have made the decision for Starz.

When you click on Outlander on Amazon Prime, it currently says there are five seasons. In the drop-down menu there are only four, but is this a hint that the subscription service believes that Sony and Starz will come to an agreement soon? Maybe it’s a sign that an unofficial agreement has already been made.

Splitting up the first two seasons

Before you get your hopes up, though, you’ll want to see the way the drop-down menu shows the different seasons. Outlander Season 1 has been split into two halves due to the way the episodes aired. In case you didn’t see it on Starz when it first aired, the first eight episodes aired and then there was a long break for the next eight episodes. Many fans believed that they were two separate seasons due to the break, and Amazon may have made that mistake when uploading too.

However, Outlander Season 5 is more than likely going to happen. Chris Albrecht, CEO of Starz, stated that Outlander is the second most-watched show on cable by women, behind Game of Thrones. That’s a huge achievement and the network would be stupid to cancel after the fourth season, despite the mixed reviews about changes from book to show.

Should we get worried?

Is there any reason to be worried about the lack of Outlander Season 5 renewal confirmation? Not quite yet. Starz may be waiting until May, which is when networks get the upfronts and announce their remaining renewals and cancelations.

To be honest, there’s no need to worry about the lack of renewal until closer to Season 4’s end, which will be towards the end of this year. The only reason we want it now is so the cast and crew can jump straight into filming Season 5 and avoid that long Droughtlander we had between Seasons 2 and 3.
