It has been revealed that Outlander Season 4 will be taking things a bit coastal. Actors on the show have been spotted in Dunure on the Firth of Clyde.

As the filming of Season 4 of Outlander is under way, gradually filming locations have and will be revealed. One of the ones of great intrigue has to be in the small Scottish village out on the coast called Dunure.

Why would Outlander have episodes taking place by sea? Isn’t this a show about the Scottish highlands? This might have to do Sophie Skelton’s character Brianna and her quest to find her mother. Brianna has found out that her mother is in America and she may very well want to travel there to see her.

Dunure is located on the Firth of Clyde, which is part of southwest Scotland. This inlet separates the Isle of Arran from the mainland and connects the British Isles to the Atlantic Ocean. Obviously, this would be a good entry point should a character on Outlander want to travel to the New World.

Previous seasons of Outlander have been filmed in scouting locations like Cumbernauld Glen, Culross and Falkland. Dunure is situated considerably southwest of its nearest big city in Glasgow. The question about this filming location is two-fold: how will Dunure impact the upcoming season and which actors will go to work in this coastal Scottish village?

Well, it has been revealed that Skelton (Brianna) and Steven Cree (Ian) have been spotted in this area to film for the series.

Some might argue that this new filming territory might speed up things in the long-anticipated reunion between Brianna and main character Jamie Fraser. Expect the Dunure scenes to be some of the most compelling in the upcoming season.

With there being a new location and all, one has to wonder how this filming will impact the local area’s economy.

Outlander fans show up in droves to catch a glimpse areas that they’ve seen on TV. This could add an interesting wrinkle to many of the shows popular tours going on in Scotland.

Is Dunere ready for this as some of the other filming locations have been prepared? Then again, this is Season 4. It’s not like Outlander is a brand-new television series that few have heard about. The upcoming season should be a great one. Just don’t be surprised when you see the show charting a new course from the highlands down to the Scottish coast.
