Outlander Season 5 will see Roger and Brianna’s wedding. It’s not an easy journey to that. Here’s a sneak of what’s to come based on The Fiery Cross.
How much of “The Fiery Cross” will be translated to screen in Outlander Season 5? We know that Brianna and Roger will get married, but will we see the full journey to that wedding? Will we see the ups and downs, the questions of how they’ll get married?
This is a sneak of what we could see based on the fifth book in the series. I’ll avoid future spoilers, and only focus on the story up to Chapter 14, which is when the wedding takes place. However, if you want to remain behind the show (I get that) then you’ll want to be warned there are spoilers in this post.

“The Fiery Cross” sees 14 chapters of story leading to the wedding. There are various talks of faith, we see babies baptized, and there are discussions of how a wedding can take place. After all, the initial plan is to have a Roman Catholic wedding, but things don’t quite got to plan.
Catholicism is outlawed in the North Carolina colony. The priest is caught and can’t remain, which means no wedding for Brianna and Roger. Well, except that Bree and Roger are willing to marry through a Protestant ceremony. Even Jamie is willing to concede to the Protestant ceremony to see his daughter marry.
Will this be something that Outlander Season 5 focuses on? It will be an interesting thing to so. But why am I focusing on it for Day 22 of the 25 Days of MacBree-mas? For me, it shows the love between this couple. The willingness to compromise when necessary.
Roger is willing to go through a Roman Catholic ceremony for Brianna (and for Jamie) even though it’s not something that he believes in. He has a discussion of faith with Duncan Innes earlier in “The Fiery Cross” and then he allows the Catholic baptism for his family.
When it looks like the wedding can’t take place, Roger and Brianna find a way to work around it. Brianna is the one willing to compromise (although it’s not a huge compromise for her) to opt for the Protestant ceremony. She just wants to marry her husband-to-be, the father of her son.
So, this part of “The Fiery Cross” is an important one for me for Brianna and Roger’s relationship. We need to see their compromises, their love for each other in Outlander Season 5.
