Paul Gorman has been confirmed as the Beardsley twins. What makes Josiah and Keziah so important for Lizzie’s storyline in Outlander Season 5?
Josiah and Keziah Beardsley have been cast in Outlander Season 5. It’s one man to play both roles, which has left some fans wondering about what’s in store in the future. After all, both twins play an important role in the story, especially for Lizzie.
There are spoilers in this post for “The Fiery Cross” and “A Breath of Snow and Ashes.” This will cover some of the Beardsley twins’ storylines for the fifth and sixth seasons of Outlander. If you don’t want to know the spoilers, I’d suggest reading more about Paul Gorman, who will play the two characters.
Operations for Claire

We’ll start with a storyline for Claire Fraser. The twins are important for her and her new surgery, as they become her first patients to receive 20th-century operations in an 18th-century world.
Claire knows that the two need tonsillectomies, but that’s not necessarily going to be easy. She’ll need to remove without traditional anesthetic and without all the medication she would have in the future. However, Claire has turned into a scientist making her own antibiotics, so there’s help to keep infections at bay.
In fact, the twins are Claire’s first patients to receive her homemade penicillin. It’s a risk, but it proves that she’s managed to create something necessary to protect her patients in the 18th-century world.
Husbands for Lizzie
So, how do the twins connect to Lizzie? Well, if you thought she caused trouble in the fourth season, just wait until you find out her future storylines. She ends up in a relationship with both brothers, and it doesn’t sound like either brother really cares about that. They’re happy to share.
Lizzie ends up marrying one and being handfasted to another, and she has a baby that could be either brothers’. Oh, yes! Things are about to get extremely interesting for this indentured servant.
Lizzie and the Beardsley twins show up again in later books. We won’t go into those storylines because, well, the seasons haven’t been confirmed just yet.
Because people would likely talk, the brothers need to look similar. There’s are two main differences between the brothers: Jo has a small scar on his thumb and Kezzie is deaf. While there’s nothing that can be done for the deafness, Jo gives his brother the same small scar. On the outside, it looks like Kezzie is his brother.
