Outlander Season 5: Will Roger return to his own time? [Book spoilers]

In the Outlander Season 5 teaser, there’s a discussion of going back. It’s clear that Roger wants to head back to his own time. Will that happen?

There are a lot of discussions to be had in Outlander Season 5. Some of the biggest discussions will involve those who can time travel heading back to their own time. From the teaser, it looks like Roger is seriously considering it.

For those who haven’t read “The Fiery Cross” and onward, we’re getting into the book spoilers here. Of course, the show may decide to change a few things, but I doubt they’ll change this storyline.

It’s not all that surprising that Roger is considering a trip to the future. He never went through the stones with the intention to remain in the past like Claire did. In fact, neither did Brianna initially. The two had planned to return to their own time once they saved Claire and Jamie.

Brianna fits in with the past though. She can thrive and she has her family there. Roger’s life is a little different. He’s not a man of the 18th century. There’s very little for him to do, and he enjoyed the life he had in his own time.

So, will he head through the stones? In the books, he certainly doesn’t. Well, not at this point. He chooses to remain in the past with Brianna and his family. Eventually, they all have to take a trip through the stones a few times for various reasons, but we’ll get into that in later seasons. Just know that in “The Fiery Cross,” Roger doesn’t decide to go to his own time, so he shouldn’t do in Season 5.

There’s no need for Roger to head through the stones just yet. The Season 5 teaser was just written in a way to pull you in.
