Be honest, you’ve missed the Heard on Set quotes from Maril Davis. Outlander’s showrunner Matt B. Roberts has shared a tease for Season 5 in style.

With Outlander Season 5 filming, we hoped that Maril Davis would tease some of the lines. Throughout Season 4, we got “Heard on Set” segments, which often gave us a hint of what was to come—those who read the books often got an insight that certain scenes were going to be included.

Davis hasn’t shared them throughout Season 5, and we’ve certainly missed them. Fortunately, showrunner Matt B. Roberts has brought us a snippet of what’s to come.

Of course, like every other #HeardonSet, it gives nothing away. It creates far more questions than gives us answers, which is all the fun in these sets. The question for many is whether this is a line on the show or it’s a line from the crew off-camera.

As someone who is only partway through “The Fiery Cross” right now, I honestly can’t tell you. I’d be through it sooner if it wasn’t for the fact that I have four other books on the go for work. I did want to get ahead this season, but it looks like that’s not going to happen!

Anyway, I’ll let you take a look at the quote and you can tell me if it’s in the book or not:

Honestly, it really does sound like something the crew would say. We know that the series goes to great lengths to look and feel authentic. The costumes are made with excellent detail and research. We get to see sets that bring the 18th century to life. This isn’t a show that is willing to do things by half measures.

So, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone wanted dirtier dirt. You want it to look like the dirt has been walked upon by hundreds of people because there weren’t the paved roads and paths that we have today.
