When will STARZ give us full official Outlander Season 5 casting announcements?

STARZ has left us in the dark about much of Outlander Season 5. There have been some small casting announcements, but when will there be something in full?

Many of us had hoped that Outlander Season 5 filming would bring teases, spoilers, and news. Instead, we’re still pretty much in the dark about what’s going to happen. Even those who have read the books don’t really know much of what the show is going to include from “The Fiery Cross.”

One thing STARZ hasn’t offered yet is any full casting announcements. We’ve had the odd bit of news here and there, coming from the management companies for the actors. However, while we know that certain actors are joining the show, we don’t know their roles—except the two boys who will play Jemmy MacKenzie.

So, when will we start to get some casting news? We’d already had some by this point of Droughtlander before Season 4. Maria Doyle Kennedy and Ed Speleers had been named as Jocasta and Bonnet in October 2017, a year before the Season 4 release. Colin McFarlane was then announced as Ulysses in January 2018.

We found out about Caitlin O’Ryan, Natalie Simpson, and others had joined the cast in May 2018, five months before the Season 4 premiere date. I’d hoped to have heard some official news of casting by now since Season 5 will premiere in February 2020.

This may be news that the production is holding off until New York Comic-Con 2019. Since there likely won’t be a screening of the first episode, there’s going to be time to fill with teases and announcements. Hopefully, one of those announcements is just some sort of casting for the season. Just one or two names would be good!

If we don’t hear by NYCC, when I think it will be late November or December that we will hear. This will start a push of promotion ahead of Christmas, and then in January we’ll likely get some sort of final promo to get ready for the premiere in February.
