The Outlander marathons are excellent for the show’s future on STARZ
There have been more Outlander marathons on STARZ. This is an excellent sign of the future of the series on the premium cable network.
Over the weekend, STARZ ran an Outlander marathon. It was another chance for fans to catch up on the recent seasons while Season 5 filming continues on. But it does more than that. It’s a sign that there’s a bright future for the series on the premium cable network.
Outlander marathons aren’t that unusual, but they’re usually timed with the release of a new season. In November 2018, there was a weekend of episodes, giving fans a chance to watch from beginning to the end of Season 3, ready for the release of the Season 4 premiere. There are sometimes marathons on special days, such as June 1, when the show originally began.

However, this was a relatively random weekend for a marathon. But what made it even special is that the first two seasons were included. STARZ could have shied away from including these seasons. They’re on Netflix. Why put something on their channel that fans can now watch elsewhere?
It shows that STARZ is still happy with the series and wants to continue the promotion of it. Plus, promoting it in the middle of filming the fifth season filming shows that STARZ doesn’t want anyone to even have the chance to forget about it. This is a show that the network wants to support continually — there were some complaints last season about how STARZ didn’t do enough promotion during Droughtlander, so maybe the premium cable network is making up for things now.
With consistent promotion and reminder that STARZ is the only place to get all seasons in full, STARZ keeps the show in the mind of fans. It offers something new to those who haven’t found it yet. There’s more hope for the future.
Right now, Outlander Season 6 is confirmed. After that, there’s the possibility the network could cancel the series. By keeping the promotion, it shows that this may not be something to worry too much about. With the plan of 10 books in total, there will be the potential of four more seasons after the sixth.
