While Outlander Season 1, Episode 14 isn’t a favorite for many, it does have some important character developmental moments. Here are my thoughts during my latest rewatch.
Outlander Season 1, Episode 14 gave us plenty of character and relationship development between Claire and other characters. One without Jamie at all, it delivered an episode that was purely about the bonds others share with Jamie and the lengths they’ll go to save him.

During my recent rewatch, I had some thoughts about the episode that made me appreciate it more than ever before. Here are the top five thoughts during “The Search.”
5. I love that we get to see Jenny as more than just a wife and mother
Up to this point, we’d seen Jenny as a mother and wife. She was a lady of the house and a loyal sister – although definitely stubborn and able to hold a grudge. But there was always going to be more to her than this.
Throughout the episode, we had a chance to see her as a tracker, as a loyal sister-in-law and smart woman. She threw herself in the search for her brother, making sure Claire would survive and they’d find out where Jamie had gone.
The episode also delivers more bonding for Claire and Jenny. They have a chance to be more honest with each other, although it also sets up the friendship that Jenny feels is damaged with the 20 years of lies.
