What does Power ending mean for Outlander on STARZ?
Power is coming to an end after its sixth season. Is this a sign that we should worry about Outlander? Don’t worry just yet!
STARZ has confirmed that it’s number one series in live + same day ratings, Power, will come to an end after its upcoming sixth season. With it being the same network as Outlander, it’s made some Sassenachs question what this could mean for the future of Claire and Jamie.
Right now, I wouldn’t panic. I’ll point out that Power isn’t canceled. It’s coming to an end, one that was hinted at during the last season finale. The stories are wrapping up but there are spin-offs planned. This isn’t Lionsgate shifting things around now that Chris Albrecht has stepped down as CEO of STARZ.

Outlander is the second-highest rated show for the network. Once Power goes, it should be in the top spot. Of course, this is only based on the live + same day ratings and doesn’t take into account the STARZ subscribers. While Nielsen can count views on the channel and through live viewings through some other ways of watching, it doesn’t know anything about the subscribers unless STARZ releases that information.
And right now, none of that matters. Outlander isn’t a show in danger. At least, not yet. It’s renewed through to its sixth season so we won’t have to start questioning its future until at least this time next year. Season 5 will probably have started airing by then so we’ll be looking at those ratings to determine the future of the show.
What happens to another show won’t affect ours just yet, unless STARZ completely goes for an overhaul of its content. There are going to be more warnings signs. Right now, Power’s ending isn’t a worry because it has been planned.
What it does show is that STARZ isn’t keeping a show just because it does well. When the story has come to a natural conclusion, it’s leaving with a good bang. That’s got to be a good thing for Outlander since it means the story can be told whenever it wraps up.
