What does the Power Season 6 early renewal mean for Outlander Season 5?
Starz has renewed Power Season 6 ahead of its Season 5 premiere later this year. Could this spell trouble for Outlander or is it a good sign?
With Starz renewing Power for Season 6 ahead of the Season 5 premiere, some Outlander fans are concerned. Why hasn’t the cable network renewed Claire and Jamie, despite supposedly being in talks since the end of Season 3?
One thing we shouldn’t do is put shows on the network against each other. Power‘s renewal doesn’t mean something bad for the future of Outlander. In fact, it could mean something good. By showing the decision to renew one show ahead of its premiere, Starz has made it clear that it could do the same for another.

The renewal could also give us an insight into when to expect Outlander Season 5 to be officially confirmed. After all, it is a when since Ron D. Moore is so certain the fifth season is going to happen. The Power announcement could even give us a date for Claire and Jamie to return to our screens for Season 4.
Starz confirms Season 6 with Season 5 premiere date
When Starz confirmed that Power Season 6 was definitely happening, it did so with a Season 5 premiere date. The date was set for July 1. That’s four months ahead of the premiere. Judging by that timeline, should Outlander Season 4 premiere in September (as expected), then we’re looking at a May announcement date.
If Starz sticks with renewals and premiere date setting at the same time, we may just hear about Season 5 in May too. This is slightly behind the initial belief, but still gives time for the showrunners and writers to put together the initial scripts. If Moore is so certain that Season 5 is happening, there are chances everyone has started talking about the storyline already.
