There’s a redcoat back for Outlander Season 5. It’s not all that surprising considering the Regulator storyline but there are some Outlander Season 5 spoilers if you haven’t read the books!

Outlander Season 5 is currently filming and that means a few spoilers are shared on social media. The most recent spoiler comes from one of the actors on the show, making it clear a particular redcoat will return.

Just a word of caution that there are some spoilers for “The Fiery Cross” in this post. If you haven’t read the books, then proceed with caution. There may also be what you consider as spoilers for Outlander Season 5.

More from Spoilers

There are certain characters that were always going to return for the fifth season. We knew Claire and Jamie would be back, then there’s Brianna and Roger and even Murtagh and Jocasta. Lizzie, Phaedre, and Ulysses are other characters we can assume are returning. But what about some of the other characters on the show?

The Outlander Season 5 spoilers from yesterday certainly tell us of one who is returning. It’s not surprising considering the storyline but our redcoat officer we’ll probably love to hate, Governor William Tryon, is back.

Tim Downie shared the reveal on Twitter yesterday, stepping in front of the camera with a “hello.” Seeing him back honestly isn’t that surprising since Tryon is the one who signed the order for Jamie to create a militia and to kill Murtagh. Naturally, this storyline is going to come up for the fifth season.

Governor Tryon won’t be happy if Jamie doesn’t follow orders. And Jamie is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Jamie won’t want to kill Murtagh but going against orders puts his home and family at risk — it puts his own life at risk.

In “The Fiery Cross,” the militia is eventually disbanded. However, the Revolutionary War is at the early beginnings and Tryon will be aware of the unrest in the area. It’ll be interesting to see how closely the show follows the novel on this particular storyline.
