#WCW: Marsali in Outlander Season 4 is the woman you want by your side
Throughout Outlander Season 4, there was a lot of focus on Claire and Brianna. However, I want to focus on Marsali for the day, making her my #WCW.
#WomanCrushWednesday was traditionally a day to show off a woman that looked good — one that people had a crush on. Well, I’ve turned it into a day to highlight the women in Outlander and today it’s all about Marsali MacKimmie Fraser.
While the fans focused a lot on Claire and Brianna throughout the season, there was a lot of good that came from Marsali. She quickly became the woman you would want by your side and I hope we see more of her in the fifth season.

What made her so good? Well, in the little that we saw of her, she was one to constantly stand by her man. She realized that Fergus was struggling to find work and didn’t complain about being the one to bring home the bacon. Sure, it was out of the ordinary for her time, but she’d been raised as a woman who would stand up for herself.
You just have to look at the way that Laoghaire has supported her daughters. While you may not like Laoghaire, she showed her daughters that they should rely on themselves and not another man. Marsali learned how to be opinionated and strong, supporting others but taking no s**t from those around her.
In Outlander Season 4, we had the chance to see her as a new mother but also as a wife. She made it clear that she needed her man to be a man — not half the man he had become due to the lack of work in Wilmington. She was willing to see him become a Regulator if it made him whole, although relieved to hear him say that his place was with Marsali and Germain.
Then we got the end moments in “Providence.” Despite the risk to her own life and the life of her son, she stood by Fergus when he needed to break Murtagh out of jail. As Fergus went into the jail with the other Regulators, she waited and made sure the escape plan was ready.
We never did get to see if Fergus and Marsali made it to Fraser’s Ridge, but they likely did. There would be no sense in adding this to the Season 5 storyline. However, what I do hope is that we see more of this supportive, resilient, and forward-thinking Marsali that we came to know in the fourth season.
