Outlander Season 5 will see the community at Fraser’s Ridge grow. This is going to be important for each of the core characters and here’s why.

Now that Roger is back in the fold, the four core characters are heading back to Fraser’s Ridge. Meanwhile, Fergus and Marsali were heading there. The community is growing at Fraser’s Ridge in Outlander Season 5 and this is going to be important for all.

Vanity Fair confirmed that the community is growing. While it mentions the characters we’ve met, it doesn’t quite touch on whether we’ll see more people settle in on the Ridge. It’s time for that to happen as it is an important part of the development for the Frasers especially.

More from Opinion

Jamie was born to be a laird. After his older brother’s death, he knew that he would become the Laird of Lallybroch but fate had other plans. However, he was prepared to be laird and was ready for the responsibilities. A growing community at Fraser’s Ridge gives him the chance to almost become a laird.

He won’t have the same title but he will have many of the same duties. The people moving onto the land will need him now and again and they’ll pay their rents to him. Jamie is the port of call for any problems and to communicate issues back to Governor Tryon.

And then there’s Claire, who will have people who need her medical need. We’ve already seen her deliver a baby and treat the measles. There will be more issues in the future. This will give Claire a chance to be the doctor that she spent years becoming in the 20th century.

We’ve had a chance to see Claire perform emergency surgeries in Season 4, but Outlander Season 5 should give us a chance to see her do more everyday treatments. It will feel a little more like the first season when she would pull teeth, treat cuts, and deal with minor illnesses.

Brianna and Roger will also grow as the community grows. They’ll realize what it means to be a laird in the 18th century. This is a chance to see what it’s like to be the leader of men, so they’ll get a chance to see Jamie in a different light.

Both saw the darker side of Jamie in Outlander Season 4. Getting the chance to see him as a leader and a caring laird-type-role will certainly see him more sympathetic.
