When will Outlander Season 5 premiere on STARZ?
Outlander Season 5 hasn’t started filming yet but fans want to know when it will premiere on STARZ. There isn’t a set date, but can we make an educated guess?
With Droughtlander in full force, Sassenachs around the world need to know when they’ll get more of their favorite show. When will Outlander Season 5 premiere on STARZ?
Unfortunately, there isn’t an answer to the question just yet. Filming hasn’t started yet, so it’s nowhere near ready to premiere. All episodes are filmed before the show premieres, unlike many shows on network TV, and this can mean these long Droughtlanders.

Caitriona Balfe confirmed that filming starts next week in Glasgow. It takes about nine months to film a season, which means if there are no long breaks, it will end around November 2019. After that, there’s some post-production work to do. So, we’re definitely likely looking at 2020 for the premiere.
Outlander Season 4 finished filming at the start of July 2019. It was pushed behind a little, as it was supposed to end around June but Scottish weather didn’t cooperate. It took four months from that point to debut on STARZ, so judging by that timeline, we could be looking at around March 2020 for a premiere.
There are only 12 episodes instead of 13, which could help reduce the amount of time filming by two to three weeks. So, we could see filming end at the end of October or beginning of November to help bring Outlander Season 5 in the late winter of 2020 instead of early spring 2020. However, I don’t think we’ll get it at the end of 2019 like many of us hope.
Bear in mind that this is a guess. I’m working off last year’s filming and premiere timeline to get an idea of a date for this year. I’m working with the longer timelines because if it’s earlier, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
