Could the judge’s secret help get Murtagh free on Outlander?
Murtagh is currently behind bars. Could all that change with what Brianna knows about the judge? She wouldn’t attempt to blackmail someone else on Outlander, would she?
With Murtagh behind bars, it’s clear from the trailer that someone is going to try to get him out in Outlander Season 4, Episode 12. That person is likely to be Fergus, but is it possible that the judge from the previous episode could play a part? Is it possible that Brianna could use the judge’s secret against him?
The synopsis makes it clear that Brianna is heading to Wilmington. She needs to get some sort of closure for what happened the last time she was there. She wants to see Bonnet face-to-face, and it’s obvious that Lord John Grey will go with her to look out for her. When (it has to be a when) she finds out Murtagh has also been arrested, she’ll want to do whatever she can to rescue him.

Then there’s finding out that Fergus is involved in getting Murtagh free. We haven’t seen Fergus and Marsali meet Brianna yet, so this could be that chance. Alternatively, it could have happened off-screen and Brianna is already worried about the family.
Knowing the judge is gay, she could certainly use that information against him. However, I doubt we’ll see it. She’s already tried to blackmail Lord John Grey and that didn’t work out very well. He called her bluff in a way, and she quickly faltered, making it clear she’d never be able to do that. There’s no way she’d do it to a judge.
However, the judge may be the connection. It could be possible that Lord John Grey uses his connection to him to help Murtagh. Now we just have to hope Lord John is fond enough of Murtagh to want to help. He certainly wasn’t happy about the idea of the Regulators, although this would be a chance for him to learn a little more about them.
In a small colony, it wouldn’t be surprising if storylines connected. Murtagh’s (and possibly Fergus’) predicament could certainly help do this.
