Outlander Season 4 spoilers: Will Murtagh die in Episode 11?
When it comes to Murtagh’s storyline, we can’t use the books to determine his fate. Will he die in Outlander Season 4, Episode 11? It’s time to delve into the chances.
Someone is going to die in Outlander Season 4, Episode 11. In the promo for the episode, there’s a snapshot of Jamie crossing himself. He, like many Catholics, does that when coming across the dead or seeing death. But who exactly is he looking over.
There is the fear that Murtagh will die this week. Because Murtagh’s storyline is no longer following the books, we can’t use Diana Gabaldon’s tomes to determine the future for him. The promo shows him facing off against Bonnet, which could put his life in danger.

I honestly don’t think it’s going to be Murtagh Jamie is crossing himself for, and I say that for a number of reasons. Quite honestly, if they saved Murtagh at Culloden just to kill him now, it’s utter disrespect for the fans of that character. There’s so much more potential and I’d have rather seen him die at Culloden than be written out now.
But considering how much the showrunners love Duncan Lacroix and how important Murtagh has become to both Claire and Jamie, I don’t think they’re going to kill him off just yet. It would be a major storyline and not one that sees him trying to kill Bonnet for what he did to Brianna.
Jamie crossing himself won’t be over Murtagh’s body. Murtagh is in Wilmington and Jamie is north looking for Roger. I think Jamie crossing himself is linked to this image:
Claire is holding what looks to be a human bone. They could come across a skeleton from decades earlier. Even an old death would lead to Jamie crossing himself out of respect.
There’s also the chance that they come across the body of the other prisoner who died on the road with Roger. We didn’t see where the Mohawk put that body, and Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian could stumble across him.
The book also has other deaths that happen around this point of the story. I’m not going to detail who for those who haven’t read “Drums of Autumn,” but there are other deaths coming up and not main characters.
For now, I think Murtagh is going to be safe.
