Will Stephen Bonnet be in Outlander Season 5?

We’re coming to the end of Season 4, so it’s time to look ahead to Outlander Season 5. Will our major villain be back for another season?

While we may still have four episodes of the fourth season, we’re looking ahead at Outlander Season 5. There are already plenty of questions. Many of them will depend on the way the fourth season ends, but that doesn’t stop us asking them. One of the biggest surrounds our villain of the season, Stephen Bonnet.

The pirate has certainly already made a name for himself. Initially, a man who had managed to escape the gallows, Bonnet stole from the Frasers, raped Brianna, and threw a child overboard due to smallpox. He is certainly giving Black Jack Randall a run for his money and someone the show needs.

Of course, every villain eventually needs to be killed off. That’s the way fiction goes. Will Bonnet be killed off at the end of this season or will we get to see him in Outlander Season 5?

I’m not going to include spoilers for the books for those who haven’t read ahead. However, what I will say is that Diana Gabaldon doesn’t wrap up major storylines within one book. It took two books for BJR to meet his fate.

Ed Speleers, who plays Bonnet, has spoken about the future for Bonnet. According to The Express, Speleers doesn’t know everything that’s going to happen with his character, but it sounds like things have been left open for him.

The good news is that Speleers would love to return. This isn’t just to have a job, but because of the character. While we may hate him, this is an interesting character to have on the show. We’ve got a villain that is charming and charismatic but also selfish and evil. He is a character that the show needs for a little while longer and there are plenty of potential storylines, and Speleers is enjoying playing him.
