There’s only one person we should be blaming for Jamie beating up Roger. It all comes back to Stephen Bonnet and his evil ways in Outlander.

When something happens, we always look for someone to blame. That’s the case in Outlander, especially the ending to that last episode. Is Brianna’s lack of clarification with Lizzie to blame for Roger’s beating? What about Lizzie for jumping to conclusions?

Nope! There is only one person we should be blaming for all this: Stephen Bonnet.

More from Opinion

Blaming Roger for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time would be blaming the victim. Blaming Lizzie is just wrong when it’s easy to see why she jumped to the conclusion she did. Blaming Brianna is even worse. How was she to know that Roger would come back and why are we blaming the rape victim for not wanting to talk about something so traumatic?

And Jamie? Definitely not! He was doing something that any father would do believing his daughter’s rapist was around. In fact, he was extremely reserved with the information he had.

Had Bonnet not raped Brianna, none of the next issues would have happened. Okay, Brianna may still be pregnant, but she wouldn’t question who the father was. Lizzie wouldn’t have had much more to fear about Roger, as Brianna would have realized Lizzie meant him and not Bonnet. Brianna wouldn’t have had the ring so there would have been nothing to keep from Claire and Jamie.

Everything that happened was all because of Bonnet. We shouldn’t be blaming the victim in any of this. It’s the pirate’s fault and that’s it.

Next. If Roger was the rapist, why would he return?. dark
