5 top takeaways from the Outlander Season 4, Episode 10 promo and synopsis
The new year brings more drama and danger in Outlander Season 4, Episode 10. Here are the biggest takeaways from the promo and synopsis for The Deep Heart’s Core.
For the most part, Outlander delivered a happy episode with “The Birds and the Bees.” There were plenty of moments that we adored, including the reunion between Claire and Brianna and Jamie finally getting to meet his daughter, but that ended with the shocking events at the end.
And that’s where we’re picking things up with Outlander Season 4, Episode 10. Titled “The Deep Heart’s Cove,” we’ll see where Young Ian got rid of Roger. Who better to deliver him to than the Cherokee neighbors, who have proven their distaste for rape and violence against women.
Poor Roger, though! This dangerous case of mistaken identity is going to lead to plenty of drama and intensity in the episode.
Before I get into the takeaways, here are the promo and synopsis to check them out for yourself.
"The tension within the family escalates when the secrets that Jamie and Claire have been keeping from one another are finally revealed and they realize that their actions have led to disastrous consequences. Meanwhile, Roger finds himself at the mercy of his Native American captors."
From this point, we do get a little teasery/spoilery. Here are the top five takeaways from the promo and synopsis for Episode 10.
5. Secrets are out
More from Spoilers
- Did Bree and Lord John Grey marry in Outlander?
- Outlander Season 7B: Will Diarmaid Murtagh return as Buck MacKenzie?
- Outlander Season 7B: Will Chris Fulton return as Rob Cameron?
- Will Dottie be in Outlander Season 7B?
- 3 characters who definitely won’t return in Outlander Season 7B
The biggest issue with the previous episode was the amount of secrets being kept. I disliked that Brianna asked Claire to keep the fact that Bonnet was the rapist a secret. I get why she asked, but she put Claire in a difficult position. Then there were the secrets Jamie, Young Ian, and Lizzie kept from Claire and Brianna about seeing Roger.
All secrets will now come out. Lizzie tells Brianna who she saw in the woods (and still, understandably, believes that Roger was the rapist) and Jamie will need to tell Claire what he did.
4. Brianna has a difficult choice to make
Would you have a child that is potentially your rapists? While now it would be a difficult decision purely as it’s a reminder of the rape, in the past there were other consequences. Bonnet could choose to claim the parentage and force Brianna into a marriage if he wanted. This is why Jamie went out and attacked Roger, believing Roger was the rapist here to claim Brianna as his wife.
Brianna is going to face a difficult decision. Does she keep the baby or abort it? Claire will have a way to help her if she wants, but it’s going to be Brianna’s choice.
3. Roger doesn’t seem to know what happened
While Roger will remember he was beaten, he won’t yet understand what’s going on. All he knows is that he needs to get back to his wife, Brianna. What he probably doesn’t realize yet is that Jamie was the one to beat him to a pulp.
Oh, this is going to create some animosity between father-in-law and son-in-law. You can sort of understand why Jamie acted, but at the same time, you can understand why Roger would immediately have some negative thoughts about Jamie. But first, Roger needs to figure out what happened.
2. We’ll find out what Claire would do
Brianna knows how hard making this decision is going to be. After all, while she believes the baby is more likely Bonnet’s, there will always be the thought that the withdrawal method isn’t that effective. The baby could be Roger’s. Even though she believes he’s gone back to Scotland and the future, she will still want to keep a part of him.
So, she decides to ask Claire what she would do. Would Claire abort a baby? We’ll probably find out what Claire would decide to do, but I get the feeling that, for once, she wouldn’t be as judgmental about someone else’s decision. This is an awful situation to be in.
1. Roger isn’t going down without a fight
He may have been beaten up by Jamie and he’s currently a prisoner of the Cherokees, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop fighting. Likely disorientated and stripped of his items, Roger is going to aim to get back to Brianna.
When he gets a chance in the trailer, he’s on the run. The question is whether he’ll actually get away. Surely, he can’t get back to Brianna in just an episode. Won’t this storyline take a couple of episodes, keeping us on the edge about Roger’s fate?
