Outlander Season 4 finale date likely to be January 27

It’s looking like Outlander Season 4 will run entirely throughout the holidays and into the New Year. That means the likely finale date is January 27.

When is the Outlander Season 4 finale? It’s a question that we can’t answer for definite until STARZ releases its January schedule, but it does look like the finale will air on January 27.

STARZ surprised us by choosing not to take a break during the Christmas weeks. Many other shows take a break from the week before Christmas to the week after New Year at the bare minimum and we did think that STARZ would choose to do the same for Outlander.

That isn’t happening. There is going to be a new episode on Dec. 23 and Dec. 30. That takes us up to Episode 9. It’s not likely that there will be a break between this point and the finale now.

And a one-week break wouldn’t make sense. Jan. 27 seems like the best date for a finale. With a week off, STARZ would have to fight against Super Bowl Sunday on the following Sunday. While most of Outlander‘s viewers are watching directly through the STARZ app and the live ratings don’t matter, the network won’t want to go up against something as big as Super Bowl Sunday.

On the one hand, the lack of break is a good thing. We don’t have the difficult break between two episodes. However, it does mean a longer break between seasons. Since Season 5 won’t start filming until February, we’ll have to wait about a year at a minimum for the new season to premiere. This could be a Droughtlander like between Seasons 2 and 3.
