We’re reaching the halfway point of Outlander Season 4. Here’s what to expect from Episode 6 based on the promo and synopsis.

The Outlander Season 4, Episode 6 promo and synopsis are out and it’s time to delve into them. This is an episode with more reunions, but things aren’t going to be as joyous as seeing Murtagh again.

Titled “Blood of My Blood,” the trailer focuses on Claire and Jamie’s story. Just what can we expect from the episode based on the promo and synopsis? What’s going to happen this week?

There may be spoilers in this post. They’re more teasery than spoilery based on things to pick out in the promo and synopsis for the episode. Before getting into the breakdown, here are the promo and synopsis.

"Jamie and Claire are surprised when Lord John Grey drops in on Fraser’s Ridge with an unexpected travelling companion. When Grey contracts the measles, Claire must reconcile her personal feelings about the man with her duties as a doctor."

5. Lord John Grey and Willie return

More from Spoilers

We were promised that Episodes 5 and 6 would feature old faces. With the last episode bringing Murtagh back, this episode gives us Lord John Grey and Willie.

Eventually, the two were going to have to come up. Now the question is why they’re at Fraser’s Ridge. How will Claire react to seeing this man again and does John still have feelings for Jamie?

We can tell that Murtagh is at the cabin when Lord John returns. He’s sure to remember the former governor of Ardsmuir Prison, but how will he feel about the man now?

4. The illness is spreading

While traveling, Lord John catches the measles. Claire has to put her feelings of animosity to one side to be able to treat her new patient. This is a highly contagious disease, but she will likely be inoculated from it. The first vaccine was introduced in the United States in 1963 with another strain developed in 1968, so Claire would have likely had some form of the vaccination.

However, nobody else has. While some of them will be able to fight off the disease and Claire will be able to help, it’s a highly contagious and deadly one. Claire will want to keep young Willie away, knowing he’s more likely to struggle fighting it.

3. Murtagh learns the truth

One thing Murtagh hated was knowing that Claire and Jamie were lying to him. He’s always asked for their trust and that’s going to come in Outlander Season 4, Episode 6. Murtagh will learn that Willie is Jamie’s son.

Out of everyone, it’s understandable that Jamie would tell Murtagh. And, of course, Murtagh would keep this a secret. It is going to be fun to see the full conversation play out, especially as the tensions continue between Claire and Lord John Grey.

2. Trouble with the Natives

Once again, there’s going to be trouble with the Native Americans. Willie manages to catch a fish, but Jamie says that they shouldn’t be there. It looks like they’ve ended up on land that they weren’t supposed to.

While I know in “Drums of Autumn” Jamie and Willie go off on an adventure, I don’t know all the details because I’m not at that point in the books. I’m listening to the book on Audible right now. I don’t know if this is going to be something taken straight from the books or if something is going to be added in for TV drama sake.

However, I do hope that before the trouble we get some bonding between Jamie and Willie. While Willie shouldn’t find out about his true parentage yet, some sort of bond between father and son is needed.

1. Willie doesn’t seem to remember Mac

At one point in the trailer, Willie questions that Jamie and Claire know his father. He clearly means Lord John Grey, suggesting that he’s been brought up to call John and Isobel “Father” and “Mother.” I’m assuming that the show is sticking with the book storyline here when it comes to Isobel, but I’ll say no more to avoid spoilers.

However, what I’m curious about is whether Willie remembers Mac. Considering his age and the connection he had, it’s surprising that he doesn’t remember something. Maybe that’s to come as Willie’s memories come back together. I know what it’s like to forget faces but remember names and it takes a while to figure out who it is I’m talking to.
