Many people worry about the story diverting onto other characters in Outlander Season 4. This is still going to be Claire and Jamie’s story and it always will be.
Outlander has always been Claire’s story about Jamie. That’s the way Diana Gabaldon originally wrote it and that’s the view from the series as you watch it. Now that we’ve got to Outlander Season 4, there are some worries that the storyline will divert to other characters.
The showrunners continue to make a point that it’s always going to be about Claire and Jamie. There will be other characters that work their way into the story, but the focus isn’t going to be taken from the Frasers too much. Even when Brianna and Roger become more of a focus, Claire and Jamie will still be the pivotal couple.

I can say this is exactly the feeling I get from the premiere episode. I got to see it while at NYCC 2018 and there was that feeling that Claire and Jamie will always remain the main focus throughout Outlander Season 4 and beyond. Brianna and Roger may be mentioned, Marsali and Fergus may have their story point, even Young Ian and Rollo have their moments, but the story is still about Claire and Jamie.
For those who are worried about the change of focus, I don’t think there’s a need to. Outlander Season 4 will have to heavily condense “Drums of Autumn.” While there are some moments on other characters, the focus is always going to have to be on Claire and Jamie. Once a lead character or two have been determined in TV shows, the show pivots around them and there isn’t really an escape from that without extremely good writing.
What I will also suggest is to give it a chance. Don’t just make an assumption from what you’ve read and try not to only watch it once and make a decision. Sometimes a show takes two or three watches to really see the hidden gems–and I say that from experience, too!
