What the People’s Choice Awards write-ins say about Outlander
Outlander has been nominated for the People’s Choice Awards and it all comes from write-ins. What does this say about the show and the fans?
We were all bummed and angry when E! said that Outlander wouldn’t be eligible for the People’s Choice Awards 2018. Then things changed but we’d have to go an extra step. Well, we all went it, right? We got Outlander nominated for Bingeworthy Show of 2018 through the write-ins.
What does this say about the series? More importantly, what does it say about us?

Well, some would call us crazy, but I say we’re just passionate. We know what we want and we’re willing to go that extra mile to make sure it happens. In this case, it was landing a nomination through write-ins to show we’re passionate.
This positive fanbase is excellent for the show, too. With such a passionate fan base, there’s more chance of the show’s success. STARZ sees that people watch it and want to keep it going. Of course, the live ratings and the STARZ subscriptions need to support this proof.
Then there’s the benefit to gaining more viewers (and more book readers). With Outlander landing a People’s Choice Awards nomination, more people will hear about it. Those who have never seen it will want to check it out. What makes it so bingeworthy? More people coming along will help to keep the ratings up.
It would be better for the show to land more nominations and in the bigger awards, but the People’s Choice Awards is a start. Now if (or more like when knowing us Sassenachs) the show wins, we need to make sure E! knows to give the show some air time. That’s where the awards slipped up the last time.
