Outlander Season 4 is almost upon us. Claire needs a female friend this season, but will Jocasta Cameron be that friend? Here’s a look at the possibilities.
With the Outlander Season 4 just around the corner, it’s time to look at how the storylines can play out and theories of what’s to come. While we can get a lot of answers from the novel “Drums of Autumn,” there are two reasons I want to keep this as a speculation piece;
- We don’t know exactly which storylines will stay and which ones won’t
- Not everyone has read the novel for whatever reason and I don’t judge on that matter
There are some minor spoilers based on interviews with the Outlander cast and showrunners. These are more insights into the season, teasing the storylines to come.

- Outlander Season 7B: Will Diarmaid Murtagh return as Buck MacKenzie?
- Outlander Season 7B: Will Chris Fulton return as Rob Cameron?
- Will Dottie be in Outlander Season 7B?
- 3 characters who definitely won’t return in Outlander Season 7B
I’ve said before that Claire needs a female friend in the series. Some may wonder whether Jocasta Cameron can be that person. It’s clear that it definitely can’t be the case from an Entertainment Weekly interview with Caitriona Balfe ahead of Outlander Season 4.
Balfe states that while there is a likeness between the two women, they are both on the opposite sides of the debate on slavery. Claire is completely against it, while Jocasta is a plantation owner with slaves. Jocasta doesn’t understand why Claire is so against the idea of slaves, which makes her suspicious and cautious.
This isn’t a good start to build on a trusting relationship. There’s an element of Dougal and Claire’s bond, which was always full of suspicion, theories, and distrust.
We got a glimpse of the suspicion and the topic of slavery in the Outlander Season 4 trailer. This is just a snippet of things to come between two women who are passionate, stubborn, and fiery.
What do you think about the bond between Jocasta and Claire? Is there any hope for it in Outlander Season 4? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
Outlander Season 4 premieres on Nov. 4 at 8/7c on STARZ.
