Outlander Season 4 trailer: Is Frank or Black Jack back this season?
The Outlander Season 4 trailer had an interesting voice say a line at the very end. Will we see Frank or Black Jack Randall again this season?
There are so many questions since we got that Outlander Season 4 trailer. Released on the anniversary of Season 3’s premiere, it was certainly an exciting addition to the middle of our Mondays. One thing we couldn’t stop listening to was the very end when we distinctively heard Tobias Menzies’ voice.
Now the big question is whether it was as Frank or Black Jack Randall? It was certainly a new line for the season, hinting that one (or maybe even both) is back for a bit.
This shouldn’t be too surprising. Menzies was spotted during the Outlander Season 4 filming and there have been theories that Frank would return in the form of flashbacks. The showrunners had even hinted at the idea of bringing Menzies back, despite both his characters dying in the third season.

Flashbacks as Frank Randall definitely makes the most sense. Black Jack certainly died on the battlefield and flashbacks of Black Jack wouldn’t mean new lines. Especially the optimistic-sounding line at the end of the trailer. Outlander Season 4 will feature Brianna more, and she’ll certainly think back to her “Daddy,” especially as she meets her “Da.”
And it does feel like it’s going to be a flashback for Brianna. During the trailer, Menzies’ voiceover is while a clip of Brianna putting her hands against the stones of Craig na Dun shows. It’s as if he’s said something to her and this could be her imagining those words being spoken again. Maybe we’ll see a flashback that encourages Brianna to go to the past to find her mother after Roger breaks the news that he has about her.
