Outlander season 4 rumors: Tobias Menzies could return

Do you miss Frank and Black Jack Randall? Well, one (or even both) could return to Outlander season 4.

Tobias Menzies has been an important part of Outlander from the very beginning. Playing the 20^th century husband, Frank Randall, and the 18^th century horror, Black Jack Randall, made him one of the fans’ most-loved actor. Sure there was nothing at all to like about Black Jack, except that love to hate him throughout the first two seasons.

When we finally said goodbye to Frank in the middle of season 3 we were heartbroken. Even if you didn’t like Frank, you just knew it meant no more of the amazing talent that is Menzies.

Well, it turns out that isn’t quite the case. While Frank technically doesn’t appear in the book series, he may come back to the show and that means more Menzies.

According to showrunner, Ronald D. Moore, he and his team have been looking at ways to bring Menzies back to Outlander. It will likely be through flashbacks, which makes sense for the upcoming storylines. There are plenty of opportunities with that, as Brianna and Roger’s characters are better developed. This could also give the show an opportunity to tell a few more stories of Claire’s time in the 1950s and 1960s.

At the moment, Moore says nothing has been committed. Menzies is a busy guy (surprisingly) and they still need to work around schedules.

If it doesn’t happen for season 4, there’s always the chance it could happen in season 5. Outlander season 5 isn’t fully confirmed yet, but Moore has told Deadline that he expects the renewal to happen. Things are looking positive, especially since the season 3 viewership has been the highest for the series.
