Outlander Season 6 possibly coming in February 2022

Starz certainly knows how to celebrate World Outlander Day! We got confirmation that filming for Outlander Season 6 has officially wrapped, and we’ll be seeing the new season in early 2022. But did we possibly get which month in 2022?

This is such exciting news! Due to the pandemic I know we were all nervous there would be an extra-long Droughtlander. But thankfully STARZ and the show were thinking of us fans (because we’re so awesome!) and shortened the season so we can get it earlier than we feared.

The Outlander Twitter account confirmed Outlander Season 6 will be here in early 2022, with a shortened season of eight episodes instead of the original plan of 12. But dinna fash Outlander fans. Outlander Season 7 will be extra long with 16 episodes instead of 12.

While they confirmed early 2022, they didn’t say when exactly. But Sam Heughan may have given us the answer.

Could Outlander Season 6 be coming in February 2022?

Yesterday, Sam responded to Anupam Kher on Twitter. He said Outlander is his wife’s favorite show. Sam tweeted back saying, “out in Feb 2022.”

Does this mean what we think it means? Did Sam just give us all the date of the 90-minute premiere episode?

Well, this is just speculation right now. Neither the network nor the official Outlander Twitter account have confirmed that Outlander Season 6 is coming in February 2022.

But this is very promising. I mean, Sam would know when the show is set to come back. Right? We don’t want to get too excited (it may be a little late for that though!), but it is very possible our favorite show and our beloved Jamie and Claire will be back on our screens in eight months.

I think the shortened season and a possible February 2022 date is a great plan. It gives the show time to work through and wrap up post-production, gives the actors enough time off to prepare for a longer Season 7, and gives the show time to also promote the new season. And most importantly, Droughtlander will be significantly shortened (judging by how long it could have been for a 12-episode season). It’s a win-win for everyone!
