Claire and Jamie being together was fate. If it wasn’t for Claire falling through the stones, Jamie would had died in the Outlander premiere.

We all know that Claire and Jamie are meant to be. They are soul mates for the lack of a better term. They’re never truly happy in life without each other. Yesterday was the fourth anniversary of the Outlander premiere and a time to look back at the episode. One thing that is certain; without Claire, there would be no Jamie.

When Claire fell through the stones, she didn’t just find herself in another time. She found herself as the savior of a group of Highlanders. Sure, they may have been able to fight off the ambush, but it wouldn’t have been easy. Some of them likely wouldn’t have made it out alive. Considering everything that happened, one of those would likely have been Jamie.

If it wasn’t for Claire, Jamie’s shoulder wouldn’t have been fixed properly. Claire managed to stop Angus from forcing the shoulder in at the wrong angle, which would have broken his arm. It’s easy to overlook this moment since Claire was there, but it would have had a knock-on effect during the ambush.

Sure, we’ve seen Jamie fight through pain and endure much more over the years, but he’d had something to fight for and protect. During his ordeal at Wentworth Prison, he was protecting his wife. Without Claire going through the stones, Jamie wouldn’t have had her to fight for.

But he didn’t have that in the Outlander premiere, did he? Well, he’d admitted that he’d fallen for Claire the minute he set eyes for her. Part of him would have been fighting to stay alive for her. It wasn’t without trouble, either. He was shot during the scuffle with the British Army. Had it not been for Claire, he likely wouldn’t have survived that wound either.

Claire and Jamie were always destined to be together. They were always supposed to be each other’s saving grace. After all, Claire wouldn’t have found the love she deserved had it not been for falling through those stones. While she may have still been married to Frank, she wouldn’t have been happy.
