Roger has a major storyline coming up in Outlander Season 4. Why aren’t we talking about it more? Well, for this #TransformationTuesday, it’s time to focus on it.
There is a lot of anticipation for Outlander Season 4, with many moments becoming focal points. However, Roger’s involvement in the story has been overlooked by many, including the promotional team behind the series. Just why is that? For this #TransformationTuesday, it’s time to look at the journey Roger is going to go through in the upcoming season.
Of course, this contains spoilers from the novel “Drums of Autumn.” I’m going to try to keep the major spoilers to a minimum for those who haven’t read the novels and want some surprises in the upcoming season.

Let’s look at how Roger and Brianna were left in Outlander Season 3. Now both effectively orphans, they’re left with just each other at Christmas. It’s clear that both like each other romantically. Roger flew thousands of miles for something that he could have likely mentioned on the phone or in a letter, making sure he was there for Brianna. Meanwhile, she put together an American Christmas for him when she was sad about her mom traveling to the past.
Outlander Season 4 will see the two of them together. There’s even one promo image of the two together to show that this is going to happen.
How the two will be together isn’t quite clear. Will the series follow the books entirely or make some changes to suit the time and budget constraints? This will depend on when Brianna traveling through the stones happens.
Roger will follow Brianna
In the novels, Roger follows Brianna eventually. He goes through the stones to be with her and keep her safe. This is the start of his major transformation throughout the series. He has to go from 20th-century living to the roughness and dangers of the 18th century. Just being accused of something was enough to find yourself guilty of a crime and that is going to happen to our poor Roger.
There’s going to be a moment between Roger and Jamie (and Ian if the series sticks to the books) that sees just how one wrong word can lead to trouble and almost death. Poor Roger is put through his paces as he attempts to get back to Brianna and there will be moments that you fear for his life.
Outlander Season 4 will see the story of love, loss, and survival. There is a moment many of us are looking forward to seeing play out on the screen, but the big question is when that will actually happen in the series. Is this something that will be saved for the season finale? Ron D. Moore previously hinted that some of the timelines were changed around but we’d recognize most of the events from the novels. Roger finally reuniting with Brianna and Claire could be one of those moments slightly out of sync with the book.

Roger is going to be the character to watch this season. He’s one that goes through major growth–the only other is possibly Brianna–as he navigates the dangers of the Colonies and finds his way to his one true love.
