What will happen to Roger and Brianna in Outlander Season 4?

We may not have a lot of information about Outlander Season 4 filming and potential changes to book storylines, but we have enough to worry about Brianna and Roger’s relationship.

Outlander Season 3 left us with Roger and Brianna together at Christmas. As Claire went back in time, Brianna and Roger spent the evening reading “A Christmas Carol.” It looked like they would be happy together.

Now we know that things might not be all okay for the 1960s couple. Outlander Season 4 filming photos showed Brianna in period dress but with no Roger around her. Is it possible that Brianna is stepping through the stones without her lover?

Of course, the book fans know the storyline, but many show fans don’t; they don’t want the spoilers and want to enjoy the series as it develops. We’ll try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible, with information based on the photos we’ve already seen on Twitter and a comment from Ron D. Moore about their relationship.

This relationship is very new. They only met when Brianna and Claire went to Scotland to pay their respects to Reverend Wakefield. Roger soon integrated himself into their lives, as they all started searching for Jamie Fraser in the past. When Claire gave up, Roger continued to search and that brought him to America.

A new relationship may be full of excitement, but it’s also full of uncertainty. There’s no guarantee that this relationship would work out even without the time travel and epic love story between Claire and Jamie.

Outlander showrunner, Moore, hints that things aren’t going to be smooth sailing for the two. They’ll need to find “each other again” and the circumstances aren’t going to be good ones. This is going to be the tumultuous relationship story of the season by the looks of things.

"You’re starting this season with them not even entirely sure where this is going to go or even if it’s going to go anywhere. And then it goes through all the turmoil and finding each other again under the circumstances they do and the shock of that; it’s a fairly heavy, tumultuous relationship story for them this season.–Ron D.
